Installation
Long Horizon runs as a native desktop application on your machine. It handles browser automation locally, giving you full visibility into test execution while keeping your code and credentials secure.
System requirements
- macOS — 12.0 (Monterey) or later
- RAM — 8 GB minimum
- Storage — 500 MB for the app, plus space for browser caches and logs
Download and install
- Download the latest release from the home page
- macOS: Open the
.dmgfile and drag Long Horizon to your Applications folder - Windows: Coming soon
- Launch Long Horizon and sign in with your account
Grant permissions
Long Horizon needs specific system permissions to automate browsers and access your project files. Grant these when prompted on first launch:
- Accessibility — Required for browser automation (clicking, typing, navigation)
- Files and folders — Required to read your project directory and write configurations and tests
- Network — Required to connect to your local dev server and Long Horizon services
Tip: If you accidentally deny a permission, you can grant it later in System Settings.
Staying up to date
Long Horizon checks for updates automatically. When a new version is available, you'll see a notification in the app. We recommend updating promptly—releases often include browser compatibility fixes and security patches.
If you encounter issues after an update, note the version number (found in Help → About) when contacting support.
Troubleshooting
- App won't launch after OS upgrade: Download and reinstall the latest version
- Browser doesn't open during tests: Check that accessibility permissions are granted
- Corporate firewall blocking connections: Contact your IT team to allowlist Long Horizon domains
